Jason Osipa is currently directing in San Francisco at LucasArts, where he also works with sister company ILM on new ways to converge the tools and techniques of games and film. He has been a working professional in 3D content for over 10 years, touching television, games, direct-to-video, and film in both Canada and the United States. Chapter 13 worth $1,000,000 in warcraft gold

Osipa's approach to toon rigging (and rigging in general) is unique, new, innovative and very simple to grasp and implement. I don't want to give away the genius of Chapter 13, because I THINK you need to buy this book!

You want to know how they "might have" rigged Elastigirl in The Incredibles? It's so simple you'll kick yourself in the shin for not thinking of it yourself.

This whole book is filled with rigging know-how by a lover of cartoons. His primary goal is making excellent facial animation. Something this industry sorely lacks! And this is the book that documents his experiences and skills. Learn from it. Be a better rigger.

If you want to be a Rigger or Character TD for toons or even photo-real characters, these techniques will be omni-present in studios (big and small) in the next year. Get this book and read it cover to cover so I don't have to kick you in the shin.

I am a 3d professional artist for a long time, I have to say I have read hundreds of books, watched hours of training videos, read pages of internet tutorials anything related to 3d animation. No other training material comes even close to things I have learned reading this book. It is a treasure that you have to keep somewhere close to your desk as a reference, whether you are modeling a character head, building blend shapes or rigging . I have used the techniques successfully in many projects. I thank Jason Osipa for writing this book and for teaching me how to build superior 3D characters. This is my second SS book, I also have the first edition. This 2nd edition is a lot different then the first.

Also excellent for Blender users

This is a great book and I highly recommend it for anybody interested in character animation. Although the author uses Maya and a few examples describe Maya-specific functionality, most of the material in here is very broadly applicable, making this an indispensable book for Blender animators as well.

Readers of my book Introducing Character Animation with Blender should definitely check this one out.

I'm not quite believing this...

I thought to myself, "This might be the most preposterous reason to write a book that I have ever encountered." And then I encountered the chapter on Tab.

The author is CLEARLY a scholar of the fizzy brown stuff, and deserves a good bit more attention than he's likely to get from this book alone. So here's hoping that a sequel is in the works!

Seriously, this is NOTHING to take seriously. A great little fun romp. Highly recommended!

An autobiographical, nostalgic tribute to family, fun, and Coke addiction. Do you remember collecting coke bottles, carelessly tossed away, for the deposit money? I do. This book will take you back to the old days. If you don't know or remember those days, you'll get the idea after the first chapter of the book. Unless you are a Mormon, or a Seventh Day Adventist (all due respect) you're addicted to something...coffee, Coke, wine or sports, Game of Thrones or Homeland. You'll relate to the downright silly, goofball and fully authentic book. Read the book; give it as a gift. It's four hours of your life "you'll never get back", but it sure beats reruns of Gilligan's Island!

Witty, Quirky and Hilarious

A fun, easy to read book. I laughed often at the continuous and ridiculous antics this addict would do to get a Coke, and the pure pleasure experienced when indulging in that “carbonated concoction”. I came across addicts of all sorts while reading this book (coffee, coke, chocolates, and a few unmentionables) and each of them had similar stories about what they had done, or were willing to do, to get the fix of their choice. A great read for any addict or their enabler.

About the Author
The Dumpling Sisters are an engaging and charismatic duo who have referred to themselves as the 'young, Asian, and (much) less hairy Hairy Bikers'. They are exceptionally bright girls; Amy has a PhD in science and Julie has a masters in psychology and criminology, with a passion for cooking. The Zhang family is from Guangzhou in China, a city famed for its incredible Cantonese cuisine. After moving to New Zealand the family set up a Chinese food cart which was as a family - giving Amy and Julie invaluable experience of cooking Chinese food to the highest standards. Delicious flavors and "fool-proof" techniques - LOVE

So many kudos to this talented pair... where do I start?? I've loved watching them on Youtube and now their cookbook has become one of our kitchen's top go-to sources for delicious recipes. My husband and I are so picky about Chinese takeaway, we don't typically order in. Now, we just make our favorite and new ones at home - thanks to Amy and Julie. Can't wait for the next book!

A keeper! Many cookbooks have recipes that I found don't really "work." Of course, one needs to make each recipe their own through a little experimentation. This cookbook is right near my tastes so I am finding my tastes are achieved after the first try which is really good.

Great book, it goes through a lot over the book of james and definitely made me see some things I should of seen years ago when I first became a believer in Christ, I hope it does the same for anyone who reads this.

An introduction to everything without going into details.

The best thing about this book is that it covers a wide area of topics concerning mixed-signal methodology. Its drawback is that at least I would like some see more practical aspect - how do I do this as an engineer.

Cadence has been a promoter of WREAL in verilog, and this book may be the only one that lists discrete real number modelling as a discipline, alongside spice modeling, Verilog-A / Verilog-AMS and RTL modeling. Chapter 3 AMS Behavioral modeling tries to teach Verilog-AMS. However, I have a feeling that 40 pages are a little too few to teach this in an educational way.
Each of the 11 chaptes are written by different people, which makes each topic to be discussed in different ways. Some authors have a practical attitude with block diagrams and Verilog-AMS listings, other contain moslty written description.

I will recommend this book mainly to those needing an introduction to mixed signal methodology. Experienced designers will not gain much new insight by reading this book.

Great reference book - - timely, too!

This is a well-written, carefully organized book that belongs on desks across America! Topics covered include organizing before writing, overcoming writer's block, suiting letters to complex situations, and using grammar and punctuation properly. If I had to provide one criticism, it would only be that the book is too short! As a reader, I didn't tire of the useful sample letters and would have happily read more and more. A great reference for the tentative writer and a good refresher for seasoned writers, as well.
