interesting storyline, poorly executed
By Amazon Customer
I read the preview, and got hooked in the story idea so decided to buy the book. However, the more I read, the more disappointed I was.
The text was very sloppily written. It looked like the author typed as she thought without reading anything again. Spell-check might have prevented many spelling mistakes, but you had many instances of a correctly spelled word that was obviously the wrong word, like "and" where it should be "hand." Words were missing, thought about the wording obviously changed but the sentence was not fully reworded, and punctuation was a nightmare. The majority of the story was written in the past tense, then in the last chapter she inconsistently slipped into present tense, making it very awkward.
While the characters were given some substance, she fell into cliche reactions and phrases that didn't match up with the characters as the story progressed. I liked Aurora at the beginning, but she became a hollow character used to tell a story rather than feeling like you were becoming a part of her story. And Draco's character is basically summed up in that he had a temper and brashly acted on however he felt with little self-control, which it's justified because he's a dragon. I felt like most of the actions of the characters were ridiculous and more for bringing the plot where the author wanted than being logical based on the situation and world she was setting up. The chemistry between the two characters is based mostly on the mate bond and being inexplicably drawn to the other person, and once they decide they like each other, you get the typical insecure, overly dramatic, rash actions, raging over-protective but it's okay because they're dragons, swoony he-kissed me behavior so typical for young teen stories.
I did like that the author at least brought a real conclusion to the story instead of leaving us hanging to find out what really happens, which seems to be becoming common with Kindle books.
Did I enjoy the book - basically. Looks like this is going to be a series, but the characters didn't draw me enough to wonder what might happen next. Would I pay for it again - no. Read the book description or a summary if you're curious how things work out, because you won't miss much.

Predictable But Fun
By Valerie
This is a pretty predictable book with some grammar and spelling errors that could have easily been fixed by an editor or good friend who reads. Nothing really new here to get excited about. However, I liked it anyway. It entertained with just enough to make me like the characters and care what happened to them. I would have like to see the tension between the hero and heroine dragged out a bit more in the story since once they gave up disliking each other it became very trying to constantly read about how they missed, loved, stared, drooled and otherwise couldn't stop thinking about each other.
That aside I really liked the idea of the heroine being blind. Her POV's were solid and interesting since her lack of sight forced the reader into other senses that made the story unique enough to not be every other paranormal romance out there. I also liked the switching between the hero and the heroine's POV. It was fluid enough to not be jarring and it gave insights into what was going on from a sighted person's POV. Some of the main irritations for me came from some not-so-well-thought-out story lines that has some gaping holes in them. Towards the end lifelong absent mothers pop up with little to no fanfare. She just walks into a room and "hey, I am here, sorry I had to leave when you were little but it was to save your life". UH, hmmm. . .. There is also never any real great proof that the bad guys are really really bad. A couple of conversations, some kidnapping but no real reasons for all this bad guy stuff. Do they just like being bad guys? Why do they have a grudge against the dragons? There are a few things like this that are just introduced and then, poof, we must believe with no real back story or info. And not all introduced "laws" of this universe seem to work all the time. If tension is needed they don't work. Flip a switch and, yay, they work again! And if you are part dragon wouldn't that give you some dragon blood? Wouldn't you be stronger? Wouldn't there be perks? I would like perks. Anyway, like I said. . . holes.
Overall a fluffy bit of fun that the author will hopefully improve on in the next books. I look forward to seeing how this story arc develops.

An Enjoyable Novel
By Chere'
This book describes a love story between a young girl learning her way through a strange community and the new experiences of being in a public school and a young man that thought he was God's gift to the world.
What I enjoyed about this book is the changes that the couple go through. Before, Aurora's disability had made her want to be strong, but also kept her from making the friends that she had always wished for. Before Draco met his mate, he sounded like an intolerable jerk that had tons of money and a high status within the community. When they do meet each other, Aurora learns to trust in others and meets great people that become her friends, while Draco learns that he has been completely selfish and must change his actions if he wished to be with his mate.
The dragon part of the book makes for an interesting community, though the history and dragons did not catch my attention like the love story did. I find it ironic that the lead male hero in the story is named "Draco" while the heroin is named "Aurora." Sleeping beauty and a prince of the community named after his species. ;)
Other notable characters include Ryan, Belynda, Soran, and Max. Their character's were enjoyable and made me wish there was more build on what goes on in their lives. Especially Soran, who seemed like a decent sort and even helped save Aurora. Characters that did not make much sense to me included Rosalinda. I understand that she was there to ensure Aurora's safety and care, but it didn't explain much. Even Kristin's appearance was abrupt.
The book itself was well written, with only a few noted errors in editing. I really enjoyed the story and I can tell that if Flynn continues writing the way she is, she will only get better. Three stars for me means I enjoyed this book. I never in my life have hated a book. I understand that there are books out there some people enjoy and books that people will not understand. This book was not quite my favorite of taste but it does not mean I did not enjoy it any less. I suggest this book to those who enjoy late high school romances with a bit of mystery and mysticism. I also really enjoyed that one of the main characters had to got through most of the story blind. It made for a new reading experience for me!
